Curvalux UK Ltd has been chosen to represent the North East in KPMG’s search for the best tech innovator in the UK.
The finalists successfully battled through their regional heat and will now go head-to-head at the UK finals for their opportunity to be recognised as a future technology titan.
The UK finals, due to be held at Nexus in Leeds on 21 July, will see a panel of industry experts select their overall winner who will represent the UK at the global final to be held at WebSummit later this year. The UK winner will compete against tech innovators from at least 23 other countries to be crowned KPMG’s Global Tech Pioneer.
Based in Sheffield, Curvalux UK Ltd delivers patented Fixed Wireless Broadband technology, offering telecom operators sustainable solutions to provide affordable high-speed and quality signal Internet to remote areas of low-income households with cost-effective investments.
Judging the competition were: Euan West, KPMG’s Leeds Office Senior Partner, Charlie Hoult, Dynamo and Opencast, Edgar Meyer, Deputy Dean at Leeds University Business School, Heba Bevan OBE, CEO & Founder of Utterberry and Anna Sutton, CEO & Founder of Datashed.

As a judge, it’s always good to have a hard decision to make as it demonstrates the calibre of those competing.“This year we got a real sense of ‘Tech for Good’. The two businesses put forward to the national finals demonstrated a clear purpose in support of social mobility, improving life chances, and the use of cleaner energy.“It would be amazing to have a Yorkshire winner not only winning the UK final we have here, on our home turf, but for them to then go on to represent the best of UK innovation in our global final. I’m sure both Curvalux will do our region proud.”

The other shortlisted scaleups who went head to head in the North East regional heat are: CellRev, Eventum Orthopaedics, Flotilla Group Limited, Kind Call Ltd, The Verve Group, Tribosonics and Agrisound.The firm’s search for standout UK tech innovators is now in its ninth year and has seen previous winners such as Echo Healthcare, What3Words and FIDO Tech go on to achieve global success and investment. The competition is now in its second year of going global and has expanded to include technology innovators competing across 23 other countries from most major regions of the world.
